About Ça cloche

Ça cloche is a free guide for people in Québec and Canada who want to spot scams, or who have been scammed — and for those helping them. It was built by a financial fraud investigator.

“Ça cloche” (pronounced “sah KLOSH”) is a French expression meaning “something's off”. The bell is in the name too: “cloche” means “bell”.

Our goal is to help you spot what's off before you lose money. If it has already happened, we want to help you act quickly and in the right order, gather the right evidence and avoid the second scam: the “recovery” scam.

Meet Drelin, the mascot. Drelin carries a bell to ring when something feels off, before you lose any money. Drelin is a drawing and will never write to you, call you or ask you for money.

How to tell that Ça cloche is trustworthy

  • We will never contact you first — not by phone, email, text or social media.
  • We never ask for money, fees or a “deposit”. This site is free.
  • We don't recover funds and we don't recommend any recovery service.
  • No account, no tracking: your answers stay in your browser.
